I got given the 25th book The Truth as a gift one year and that's where I started. I promptly went back to #1 and worked my way through them but as Regis says, they're very accessible. Character do recurr so starting near the beginning helps but isn't necessary. I've been looking forward to this and "I Shall Wear Midnight" for a while. On the Hugo things, everyone should go give some love to Jim Butchers "Welcome to the Jungle" graphic novel. Don’t be put off mate. Some are more entertaining if you have read about characters before, but the accessibility is pretty high compared to other "series" (it's more like novels taken place in the same world/city).
